Teacher Tube Assignment

For this video assignment, I was searching for something in m-learning since I have zero experience with m-learning and was interested in what might be out there and how we could use it at our corporation. I chose my particular video because it met the request that the video be short, but also because it captures the basic capabilities and potential of m-learning devices.

IBMs Maxis MDS can be used to share documents and announcements, videos, emails, conference calls, web links, and more. It can be used to provide direction, collaboration opportunities, a framework for project planning, reporting, procedure information and general communication.

The devise could be particularly helpful in providing consistent messages and values to hundreds of learners in any given Community of Practice whether it be a management team, marketing team, or training and development team so that each community of practice group is consistent with the community as a whole and in line with Corporate values and objectives. Plus, learners can participate on their schedules from any location. No one needs to be tied to an office space for a meeting or video conference. Given the demanding scheduling needs of today's corporate learners, this is an asset.

Welcome to my blog! I just became a Learning Coordinator at a local pharmaceutical firm. Because I want to better understand how people learn at work, I'm also taking courses towards an MA in Education Technologies! The old workplace education models of experts imparting all of the necessary trade information into the novices so they could perform their job tasks well is no longer possible. Did you know that the amount of information available to employees is growing at an exponential rate? Consider this:

As you can see, there is no way any one person can know all there is to know on anything anymore. Our knowledge is growing so fast, we don't even know what we need to know!

I'm starting this blog so that I can share my ideas as I gain experiences and interact at my new company and as I build knowledge at school. I'm hoping you'll share your learning experiences and ideas too so that together we can collaborate and build understanding and improve workplace learning centers for everyone. Thanks for contributing!
